ABOUT
Join us for a special gathering at St. Francis Church in Tairua, nestled in the heart of New Zealand’s Coromandel, for two days of prayer, teaching, rest, and quiet communion. Together, we will step into the ancient and present reality of longing—our thirst for God and God’s thirst for us—guided by Strahan Coleman, prayer guide, poet, and author of Thirsting: Quenching Our Soul’s Deepest Desire.
In Thirsting, Strahan weaves the poetic and the practical, exploring the human ache for connection and the divine pursuit of intimacy. He reveals desire not as something to suppress but as the holy ground where God meets us—through our fire, our thirst, and our humanity. In this prayer school, you’ll be invited to sit with these themes, to listen deeply, and to allow your longing to become the meeting place with Love.
Course Sessions
Over six sessions, Strahan will help us navigate the deep waters of human and divine desire:
Desire (Human): The fire within us—what it feels like, how it shapes us, and what it reveals.
Desire (God): Exploring the Trinity as the ultimate longing and the eternal union of love.
New Frames: Reflecting on the disordered ways we try to satisfy our desires and what a prayerful, communion growing path may be.
The Conversation: Discovering prayer as a mystical dialogue with God, not only words but presence.
Say Yes: Learning to open the door to Christ with courage, vulnerability, and a willingness to be seen in our nakedness.
Praying the Pain: Holding the tension of unfulfilled desires and allowing God to meet us in the ache.
What to Expect
This isn’t just a school; it’s an invitation to pause, to be nourished, and to dwell in stillness. The days will be framed by shared meals, teaching sessions, experiences in the nature and beauty of Tairua, guided prayer, and plenty of time to reflect, rest, and connect with others.
